2. What Data We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the service:

• Authentication data — an identifier used to manage your account, such as the email address you use to sign in.
• User-generated content — recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and any other content you create within the app.
• Usage analytics — anonymised data about how you use the app, collected via PostHog and used solely to improve Whiskely.

We do not collect your name or any other personal information beyond what is strictly necessary to operate the service.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and operate the Whiskely service
• To power AI features such as recipe generation and meal planning
• To prevent abuse of our free trial and subscription system
• To improve the app using aggregated, anonymised analytics

4. AI Processing

Whiskely uses third-party AI providers to power its features. When you use AI features, relevant content — such as recipe text or chat messages — may be sent to these providers for processing. Some providers may use this data to improve their own models, subject to their own privacy policies. We use OpenRouter as our AI gateway; the specific underlying models may vary.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in secure cloud infrastructure and encrypted in transit. We follow industry-standard practices to protect your information, though no system can guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Location & International Transfers

Whiskely's infrastructure, including its servers and databases, is located in the United States. By using Whiskely, you acknowledge that your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

If you are based in the UK or EU, this transfer is made on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a consistent, reliable service. We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is handled securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy regardless of where it is processed.

7. Other Users

Your recipes and content are private by default. No other user can see your recipes or any content you create in Whiskely.

8. Data Retention & Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings screen in the app. Doing so will immediately and permanently delete all your recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and associated content.

Following deletion, we retain a minimal authentication identifier solely to prevent abuse of our free trial system. This is the only data retained after account deletion, and it is not used for any other purpose.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes through the app. Continued use of Whiskely after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
